Asfuroglu leaves Speirs + Major for new adventure

(UK) – After almost eight years years, Kerem Asfuroglu leaves senior designer position at Speirs + Major to explore new opportunities in art and design, teaching and charity work. 

Following his graduation from Wismar University – Architectural Lighting Design MA in 2010, Asfuroglu has been working at Speirs + Major, London Studio since 2011. Throughout his career, he worked on projects of varying scales from Covent Garden’s site-wide lighting improvement project to Shakespeare’s New Place in Stratford upon Avon. He won several awards including Red Dot Design Concept 2011, PLDA Vox Juventa 2012 and PLDC 2015 Best Newcomer.

He was awarded with the title of Dark Sky Defender by IDA in 2017 for his works advocating the importance of darkness. He is the creator of Dark Source – inspirational short stories which question our relation with light from a darker perspective. The comic series has been published in arc magazine since 2013.

Asfuroglu commented: “I feel very privileged to have been a member of the S+M family over the course of the last decade. It has been an amazing experience working with such a talented group of individuals on a highly diverse range of projects. I would like to thank my team for the great adventure, as it is now time for me to move on and seek new challenges combining my passion for art, teaching and charity work.”
