Senior Lighting Designer – Full-Time

Minimum 5 years of experience 

ACTLD is seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Lighting Designer to join our professional team of designers, architects, visual artists based in Brussels, Belgium.

What about the Job?

As a Senior Lighting Designer, you will be responsible for developing lighting design briefs/ programs/ technical specifications and related plans per various client’s needs and international standards. You will also be responsible for preparing the operating budget for the Lighting Design function and monitor the financial performance.

What about your Skills & Responsibilities

• Completing all phases of project lighting design, starting from the original conception to implementation phases
• Directing and reviewing the work of other Lighting Designers and Lighting Interns
• Provide lighting design solutions appropriate to client brief, budget and relevant standards.
• Attend client and design team meetings, sometimes involving national and/or international travel.
• Prepare presentations to clients and present them to clients.
• Develop lighting design solutions – lighting calculations, research of fixture alternatives, review of fixture samples, construction of temporary mockups
• Oversee the documentation of the lighting design, lighting details, light fixture schedules, lighting control specifications
• Plan and execute lighting mockups as needed throughout the project
• Review cost estimates of project lighting specifications and adjust lighting design to meet the client’s budget.
• Review construction progress of lighting installation at project site and issue field reports to the design team.
• Supervise final aiming of light fixtures and lighting controls programming.

What about you as a Person & Experience?

• Min 5 years’ experience in architectural lighting design.
• Able to manage a project from Concept to Completion as an active participant in all the tasks within the project (concept, presentations, drawings packages, specification and schedules, lighting calculations assessment, mock-ups, site visits, internal and external communication).
• Can work autonomously and willing to take leadership within a team.
• Attentive to details and focus on high-end results.
• Proficient in: DIALux, SketchUp, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite,
• BIM, 3dsMax, Rhino, Revit or similar are a plus.
• Ability to graphically express your ideas is highly valued.
• Effective and efficient time management and communication skills within the various stakeholders of the project.
• Written and spoken English and French/or Dutch are a plus.

Experiential Designer – Full Time

Minimum 3 years of experience

ACTLD is looking for an Experiential Stage Designer who operates on the forefront of temporary events, installations and perpetual environments. Who delivers surprising environments and brings stories to life in compelling 3D experiential designs that engage audiences with their brand across the globe.

YOU HAVE A PASSION FOR DESIGN. You are passionate about engaging, connecting, and touching people through LIVE memorable moments and permanent builds. You do so by influencing all the customers’ touch points with the art of shaping these moments with your interdisciplinary skillset so that people walk away feeling good about the event, they leave with a live lasting impression. You will participate in the creative process with our creative director and content team by proposing stunning designs, visual concepts, creating storyboards, interfaces and mock-ups.

Also You

• Master a conceptual approach and combine architectural, event, and artistic handwriting.
• Have extensive experience in both temporary and permanent builds.
• Have a keen eye for details, shapes, and colors with excellent knowledge of materials.
• Have a good understanding of both guest & consumer experience, which you can apply on design concepts and narratives.
• Have a Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts (Art and Design) or sufficient relevant experience.
• Have 3 – 5 years of relevant professional experience.
• Are a master in Cinema 4D and Adobe. Vectorworks is a plus.
• Can sketch, design and render.
• Can work both as team support and as team lead, depending on the nature of the project.
• Have good communication skills and can oversee a design process from A to Z.
• love DEADLINES and are able/willing to work and deliver within budget and planning.
• You can convey your ideas through cool and convincing copy.
• Written and spoken English and French/or Dutch are a plus.
