Senior Lighting Design Manager

    The Red Sea Development Company (TRSDC) is building a team of talented lighting designers to work on one of the most prestigious developments in the world.  The Red Sea Project is being created to offer an exquisite ultra-luxury destination within a pristine 28,000 km² area. Once complete, it will offer visitors the opportunity to explore a uniquely diverse region of the world, including experiences for nature lovers, outdoor adventurers, cultural explorers, and wellness seekers.

    In this role you will help to shape the way people feel and experience our different assets from some of the world’s most exclusive hotel operators, working with an international team of renown Architects, Landscape, Interior and Lighting Designers. 

    Job Purpose:

    • Assist in the management of our lighting consultants to ensure the lighting design concepts and strategies developed are in line with our sustainability and Dark Skies principles.
    • Review projects in terms of lighting aesthetics, efficiency, and functionality.  
    • Ensure smooth running of all projects in a timely manner within set budgets by managing the quality of design.
    • Contribute to the preparation of the functional budget and monitor financial performance of consultants versus the budget.
    • Provide assistance in the development of lighting design briefs/ programs/ technical specifications and related plans as needed to ensure meeting TRSDC and operator’s needs are as per international standards.
    • Liaise with lighting design consultants to monitor the design development and ensure that the design brief is complied with quality and budgets as per plan.
    • Monitor the execution of the project details onsite as needed to control quality and maximize time efficiency.            
    • Mentor junior team members.
    • Provide written project updates to upper Management as required.

    Requirement, Experience & Skills 

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Urban or Interior Design from an accredited University.
    • Masters’ degree with postgraduate qualification in Lighting Design is required.  A campus-based Master of minimum 2 years is preferred.
    • 10+ years’ experience in leading the lighting design and project management of very large-scale, complex design projects.
    • 5+ years of Hospitality and Landscape/Public Realm Lighting Design experience as a Senior Designer. 
    • Detailed knowledge of design development of concept phases, strategies, programs, and costs in addition to international lighting codes and standards. 
    • Knowledge of Sustainability and Dark Skies.
    • Experience performing lighting mock-ups for project specific applications.
    • Excellent communicator with the ability to present confidently to small and large audiences.
    • Fully computer literate, capable of using design programs such as Cad, Sketchup, Rhino, Revit, Photoshop, In Design, BIM tools, and applications in checking building design standards.
    • Ability to work independently.
    • Ability to conduct research and generate papers.
    • Site work experience to supervise light installation, aiming of fixtures, and scene setting.
