Electrolight opens San Francisco studio

(USA) – Multi-award winning lighting designer Claudio Ramos to head Electrolight’s fourth studio, building on success of Melbourne, Sydney and London practices.

After fifteen years of successful collaboration, Hiram Banks and Claudio Ramos, co-principles of Banks Ramos Architectural Lighting Design, have parted ways as Ramos leaves to found a new San Francisco office for award winning independent lighting design firm Electrolight. Hiram Banks will continue to build on the high reputation of his firm using the same skills that have made him an industry leader.

Ramos, one of the United States’ leading lighting designers with over twenty years experience in lighting design and a long-standing member of the IALD, will head the new San Francisco studio, located in downtown bayside.

“I’m super excited to be part of the Electrolight team and to create a fresh option for lighting design in the United States,” said Ramos.

The San Francisco studio will be Electrolight’s fourth and will build on the success of its current practices in Melbourne, Sydney and London. Founding director Paul Beale said: “To have someone of Claudio’s calibre join our firm is fantastic for Electrolight and it speaks of how seriously we are taking this step into the US.”

With the establishment of this new location, together with an already respected team of designers, Electrolight presents an expanded international capability to work across continents and timezones.
