Flos integrates Michael Anastassiades’ into its catalogue

(Italy) – The Italian manufacturer, Flos, will produce and distribute a selection of designs developed under Anastassiades’ own brand, extending a collaboration that began in 2011.

The integration includes a selection of lighting products from Michael Anastassiades’ eponymous brand in its catalogue, with the Italian company responsible for manufacture and distribution.

The agreement expands a partnership between Flos and the Italian designer that began in 2011. The companies said the move would retain the identity and design language of Anastassiades’ independent collections while broadening their international availability.

Flos has not identified which products will enter its catalogue or provided a timetable for the transition. The announcement states that the selected designs will continue under the Flos manufacturing and distribution network.

Piero Gandini, Executive Chairman and Artistic Supervisor of Flos B&B Italia Group, described the addition as a consequence of a collaboration lasting more than a decade: “The inclusion of Michael Anastassiades’ heritage collection in the Flos catalogue is the natural consequence of a collaboration that began more than ten years ago,” says Gandini.

Anastassiades says: “Now it feels like a natural progression that the pieces I have developed under my own name over the past twenty years will continue with Flos.”

Anastassiades and Flos began working together after a meeting with Gandini in 2011. They launched their first collections for the company, String Lights and IC Lights, in 2013.

Further releases included Captain Flint in 2015, followed in 2018 by Overlap, a suspension lamp using Flos’ Cocoon material, and the modular decorative system Arrangements.

Anastassiades’ wider practice spans lighting, furniture, objects and spatial work, combining industrial production with craft-based methods. The newly announced arrangement brings part of that independently developed body of work into Flos’ commercial portfolio.
