Helvar HQ awarded Gold level WELL Certification
(Finland) – Helvar HQ becomes first project in Scandinavia to receive WELL Certification under WELL v2.
Helvar has been awarded the WELL Certification at Gold level for its headquarters in Espoo, Finland by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI).
The distinction was awarded through IWBI’s WELL v2 pilot, the latest version of the WELL Building Standard, and is the first project in Finland and Scandinavia to receive WELL Certification under WELL v2.
The WELL Building Standard offers an excellent framework to design a people-focused workplace. Helvar’s HQ was designed with such a forward-thinking mindset that it was relatively easy to adapt the office in its existing state to improve the conditions, in order to meet and achieve WELL features.
Created through seven years of rigorous research and development, working with leading physicians, scientists and industry professionals, the WELL Building Standard is a performance-based certification system that marries best practices in design and construction with evidence-based scientific research. Helvar HQ earned the distinction based on 10 categories of building performance – Air, Water, Nourishment, Light, Movement, Thermal Comfort, Sound, Materials, Mind and Community.

WELL is grounded in a body of evidence-based research that explores the connection between the buildings where we spend approximately 90 percent of our time, and the health and wellness impacts on the people inside these buildings. To be awarded WELL Certification by IWBI, Helvar HQ underwent rigorous testing and a final evaluation carried out by Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI) – the third-party certification body for WELL – to ensure that it met all WELL Certified Gold performance requirements.
