IALD announces Enlighten Europe speakers

(Czech Republic) – Second instalment of biannual IALD conference program to provide 21 60 minute sessions, featuring 34 architectural lighting design experts from fourteen different countries.  

Architectural lighting design professionals and business leaders across Europe will gather this November at the Prague Marriott Hotel in Prague, Czech Republic for the second biannual International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) Enlighten Europe conference.

From 13-15 November 2016, IALD Enlighten Europe attendees will immerse themselves in business-critical issues, obtaining insider knowledge and hands-on advice from leading lighting experts. Over three days, the event will provide opportunities to join with like-minded designers and professionals, share ideas with other creative visionaries and discover new tools to make work more satisfying and productive.

This year’s notable list of speakers offer a variety of industry thought leadership, next generation technology and practical advice. The conference program will provide 21 inspirational and informational 60 minute sessions in three concurrent tracks and four innovative mini sessions, featuring 34 architectural lighting design experts from fourteen countries.

Kicking off the conference is keynote speaker Sakchin Bessette, Cofounder & Executive Creative Director of Moment Factory. Bessette will aim to engage and inspire a sense of collective wonder through avant-garde use of technology and media art. As the creative lead behind the multimedia spectacle for the façade of Antoni Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Bessette is no stranger to creating spectacular experiences.

In addition, the IALD has announced that Patrick Woodroffe of Woodroffe Bassett Design has been added to the official list of keynote speakers. Scheduled to speak at the Prague Marriott Hotel in Prague on 15 November, Woodroffe is a lighting designer whose work encompasses the worlds of music, dance, fashion, art and architecture. He is a Royal Designer for Industry (RDI) and an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE). Over the last forty years he has lit and directed shows for artists that include ABBA, AC/DC, Adele, Bob Dylan, Elton John, Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga, Paul McCartney, Rod Stewart, the Rolling Stones, Stevie Wonder, and Tina Turner.

Among his contributions to architecture, he has created lighting schemes for the Millennium Dome (O2) in London; the Lake of Dreams at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas, NV; the Sunset Tower Hotel in Los Angeles, CA; Highgrove House for The Prince of Wales; the Madejski Gardens at the V+A in London; and the historic Prague Castle for President Vaclav Havel – an ancient symbol of the Czech lands.

Lighting designers, architects, interior designers, lighting specifiers and manufacturers, as well as educators and students are encouraged to register before 31 August at 11:59 P.M. CDT to save up to €45.00 on full conference registration.
