SLL to host webinar with Luca Roncoroni

30th June 2020

(UK) – Webinar to be held on 7 July at 11:00 BST.

The Society of Light and Lighting is to host a webinar discussion with Luca Roncoroni, Creative Director of Icehotel, Sweden.

Roncoroni was appointed Creative Director of the Icehotel Group in January 2019 – this incorporates the world-famous hotel and art exhibition in Sweden, as well as the Icehotel Creative Experience, with ice design projects around the world.

What initially began as an art exhibition using ice and snow from the Torne River and surrounding area in the small village of Jukkasjärvi, Sweden has since returned on a yearly basis, under a different guise each year. One of the objectives behind the Icehotel is to explore art by introducing creative individuals to ice and snow.

An architect with experience in interior and furniture design, Roncoroni first worked for Icehotel in 2001, and has returned each year. He has worked as an artist, designing the hotel suites, as well as taking part in international design projects on behalf of Icehotel.

Alongside his work with Icehotel, Roncoroni runs his own Oslo-based studio, whre he has worked with Anish Kapoor Studio, Innovation Norway and the University of Bergen, to explore the boundaries of architecture, design and installation art.

During the webinar, scheduled for 7 July at 11:00 BST, the SLL will be talking to Roncoroni about his role as Creative Director and what this entails, from artistic conception, design and construction to working with a diverse range of specialists including architects, lighting designers, engineers and artists from around the world.

Registration for the webinar can be found on the SLL website.
